General Info
Membership
Membership is available to all permananent residents of Fernie, Hosmer, Jaffray and all areas between. Members of the Cranbrook, Sparwood, and Elkford libraries along with visitors who are able to show proper identification and a credit card are also eligible for membership.
Borrowing Policies
Fernie Heritage Library carries a range of fiction and non-fiction books, along with magazines. We also offer CD's, audio cassettes, talking books, videos, and DVD's. A wide selection of both junior fiction & non-fiction is available for our younger readers. You will also find in our Canadian Pacific Reference Room a range of items such as encylopædia's which must remain within the library.
All materials are available for a three week loan period. If you would like an item for longer you may renew it through our Online Catalog, phone us, email us or you may drop by in person.
If you would like to reserve an item, you can do so through our Online Catalog, or through the book reserve form on our reserve page.
Items may be returned to the front counter or dropped through the slot at the right of the front doors.
Late charges are as follows:
10¢ per day per item.
5¢ per day per item.
$1 per day per item.
All items except for DVD's have a maximum fine of $2.50 each.
BC OneCard
The BC OneCard is a provincial library card that allows you to access all public libraries throughout British Columbia. Come in and see us and we will be able to assist, or answer any questions you may have. You may also check out the BC library website and their information about the OneCard.

Library Services
Internet Use
We offer six computers on the upper floor of the library available to our patrons for research and internet usage. Each patron is allowed one hour of research time per week free of charge. Internet usage to check email, chat using MSN Messenger, general browsing, or research beyond one hour is charged at the following rates:

Printing available at a cost of 20¢ per page.
A Frequent User Card is also available which give you 10 hours for $40. Our computers will close 30 minutes prior to closing. Seniors (60+) are given one free hour per week.
